Create Polymer Earrings 

Students will be shown a demonstration of different techniques to add visual interest to their polymer clay including mica powders, colored clay marbling, and texture stamps. They will roll out their clay and decorate it using one of the techniques shown. Next, they will take a clay shape cutter and cut out their earring/jewelry shapes to bake.  Once baked, they can varnish the pieces if they wish before assembling jewelry hardware. Students are encouraged to follow the demonstrations or use the sculpting tools to get creative with their own shapes and designs.

Materials Included: polymer clay, sculpting tools, rolling pins, clay shape cutters, texture stamps, mica powders, acrylic paint, varnish, pliers, jewelry hardware, glue, parchment paper, toothpicks, cotton buds, toaster ovens
